Many years ago, I acquired a pair of high quality iolite earrings, arrayed like mini-mandalas. I’d never seen iolite before, nor heard of this crystal. Yet, whenever I wore the iolite earrings, I noticed a heightened clarity of mind and a strengthening of intuition. How could this be?
Whether or not we believe in the metaphysical aspects of crystals, we rely on the power of crystal in everyday life. The accuracy and functionality of GPS navigation, liquid crystal displays, and clock signals rests on the precision and stability of quartz crystals. High speed electronics, surgical lasers, and biomedical implants use the purity of crystals to achieve technological wonders.
I like to think of crystals as Nature’s mystic eggs, grown in the earth for the purpose of helping us on our journey through life. Their colors and exquisite interaction with the light alone bring beauty, inspiration, even magic into our experience. No wonder some crystals are worth a fortune!
As a longtime student and more recent teacher of meditation, I can attest that certain crystals have a presence and amplification to assist in our daily practice. Iolite, in particular, is known to heighten our clarity of purpose, inner wisdom, and creative expression.
This artwork is about iolite’s role in astral travel and how it helps elevate us out of the ordinary modes of experience into the angelic or sattvic realm.
the ajna chakra’s aide
By tilting iolite at different angles to the light, the crystal displays subtly different hues. This quality reminds me of the elevated perspective that happens on the way to a deeply meditative state. Have you experienced this phenomenon? As we chant or breathe and relax, we can see a situation from different aspects because we are no longer locked into the forces of emotional and mental gravity and identification.
The Ajna chakra or Third Eye is a portal to higher consciousness and the infinity of blissful love at the heart of creation. The Ajna chakra symbol is purple, like iolite—a hue of highest vibrational frequency.
In the Eastern traditions, life is compared to crossing a difficult ocean of the world. We all sink into the difficulties, the struggles, which are considered to be maya—the great illusion of duality and separation from the infinite Oneness at the heart of being. We all struggle to use whatever we can in this world to move through the darkness into the light of our higher consciousness and higher Self.
What if we each have an angelic aspect, that can be activated while still here on Earth, to bring us greater fulfillment and connection with the Divine?
When I first heard of the Ten Light Bodies of Consciousness, which we each possess, something awoke in me: a curiosity, then an intensity, a passion to have an experience of these aspects of human being. I wanted to know how to vibrate each body, to connect with the ones that were strongly present and to heal and balance those that presented a challenge.
Being on a spiritual path is profoundly exciting, so much so that I want to travel in all the ways humanly possible. For example, when I walk far and fast, one of my Light Bodies follows along above me, dancing and flying as my physical body treads the path. There is so much more to us than we realize!
Such a high vibration crystal as iolite brings the kind of stability, responsibility, and clarity that helps with financial decisions. It’s not magic; it’s simply attuning our minds to what is in our highest good, pushing away the distractions, and allowing the glory of these precious bits of Nature—the crystals—to remind us of our Creator and our ultimate purpose.
